OHS Canada - Court Adjourned
An interesting case that has taken 18 years has come to an end - The appeal rested on the question of duty of care the the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT), the regulator; Pinkerton's of Canada, the company hired to provide site security; the Canadian Association of Smelter and Allied Workers (CASAW), later amalgamated with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW), the miners' union; and several union members or officials owed to the 9 replacement miners who were killed by an explosive surreptitiously planted by a striking union member.
